Alright, welcome back! This is drill number one for nunchaku skills. This is really focused to make you smooth, remember. Alright, so we’ll get right into this.

It’s quite easy, we’ll start with the chuck over the shoulder and you’re gonna come down, stall, and come back up.

Down, stall, back up.
Down, stall, back up.

So you can eventually remove your other hand and just get used to bringing it down, stalling it, and bringing it back up.

I’ll come around to this side…

So that’s it right there.

Bring it down, stall, back up.
Off the shoulder…
Down, stall, back up, off the shoulder.

A lot of these drills will be geared for a repeat cycle; not all of them, but most of them are.

In this way, you’re learning to do a certain action so that you’re learning to strike it down, your learning to strike it up, and you’re learning to stall it.

You’re getting used to that. So, it’s a repetitious thing that keeps you into that pattern…and later you want to break the pattern, but that’s a whole different thing.

Right now, you just want to get used to moving the chuck around and more drills will help you to cover pattern lapses. So, try to track practice them all evenly and you’ll benefit greatly.
